The European Studies Council (ESC) of the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University invites applications to the 6th annual Yale European and Eurasian Studies Graduate Student Conference

On May 6-7, 2025, a hybrid-format conference is scheduled to take place at Yale University. This Conference will bring together graduate students, early-career scholars, and established academics from across disciplines to discuss the most pressing challenges facing Europe, Russia, and Eurasia today. The deadline for applications is February 17, 2025. To propose an individual paper, please submit the online application form.

Political Science, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Security, Film and Media Studies, Economics, Literature, Law, Cultural Studies, and Public Health are all examples of acceptable fields for paper topics. Only open to applications from graduate students and early career scholars.

In the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine, we are especially receptive to initiatives that further the decentralization and decolonization of the study of the former “communist bloc” of the Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and Eurasia at large. The results of the selection will be communicated by February 21, 2025.

For more information, please visit the conference webpage. Please circulate widely!

Applications DUE: February 17, 2025

Applicants will be informed of their proposal status by February 21.
