The Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and the Yale School of Music will co-host the discussion, “Sounds of Bloody Sunday: A Conversation About Shostakovich and the Wounds of History,” featuring Yale Philharmonia principal conductor Peter Oundjian in conversation with Russia expert Tom Graham.

The talk will include remarks by Oundjian and Graham followed by an audience Q&A session. Lunch will be available beginning at 11:30am. The event is free and open to the entire Yale community, but registration is required.

The discussion is a prelude to the Jan. 18 performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11, a powerful work that depicts tyranny and revolution.
