The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1949, 93 mins)
Joseph Cotten, Orson Welles, Alida Valli, and Trevor Howard shine in what Robert Horton called “one of the glories of postwar cinema, and quite possibly one of the most sheerly enjoyable movies ever made.” Set in a swirling, seedy Vienna, this atmospheric noir thriller was declared by the BFI to be the best British film ever made.
Presented in 35mm by the Yale Film Archive with support from Paul L. Joskow ’70 M.Phil., ’72 Ph.D.
