Sylvia Hagan

Sylvia Hagan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana. Her doctoral research focuses on outdoor workers' well-being particularly exploring perceived climate change, pro-environmental behaviours and their work-related outcomes in Accra, Ghana through an interdisciplinary approach.
Sylvia is an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist with a strong interest in promoting worker wellbeing across various contexts. She is a lecturer at Regent University College of Science and Technology, where she delivers lectures and supervises undergraduate research projects. Her professional experience includes working as a Project Assistant on the Amplifying the Voices of African Researchers (AVAR) thematic area under the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) Program. She has also worked as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte Ghana and as a Research Assistant at the University of Ghana. Sylvia volunteers to mentor young people and support their career and research growth.
She is a recipient of the Climate Justice Award funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada under the CDKN Program. She leads the Climate Mental Health Initiative which provides psychoeducation to community members, who lost their livelihoods and properties due to sea-level rise.
She has co-authored four articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored a book chapter, attended and presented at several international conferences. She is licensed by the Ghana Psychology Council and a member of the Ghana Psychology Association.
