Kasturi Gupta
Kasturi Gupta is the Director of Programs and Institutional Partnerships of the Yale MacMillan Center’s South Asian Studies Council. She has more than ten years of experience working in university administration. At Yale, she has spearheaded numerous partnerships within the South Asia region; including close working relations with Ashoka University, a series of workshops and initiatives in Sri Lanka and Nepal, and several high level meetings including those at the Supreme Court of India. Her involvement with the Yale India Initiative forged a strong commitment towards scholarly, programmatic, and long-term engagement within India. This has also included working closely with scholars and students to support their academic pursuits and careers. She furthermore worked extensively in public health, the international development sector, and corporate social responsibility. Kasturi holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Syracuse University and is fluent in Bengali, Hindi, English, and has conversational familiarity with Marathi. Before she joined Yale in 2009, she was Program Coordinator for the South Asia Center at Syracuse University.
