Rajeshwari Majumdar

Postdoctoral Associate, Identity & Conflict Lab

Rajeshwari Majumdar is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Identity & Conflict Lab. She holds a Ph.D. in Politics from New York University and B.A. from the University of Connecticut. Her research interests lie in political behavior, experimental methods, and Indian politics. In her dissertation and beyond, she examines how group identities shape individuals’ reactions to information about contentious political issues. In particular, she studies ethnic identity (focusing on interethnic relations and ethnic nationalism) and partisan identity (focusing on ideological and partisan motivations in countries with traditionally weak party ties). She also has an active research agenda geared towards understanding the role of WhatsApp in the politics of developing countries. Her work is forthcoming in Political Behavior and has received best paper awards from the Experimental Research, Political Communication, and Information Technology & Politics sections of the American Political Science Association and from the Midwest Political Science Association.
