Postdoctoral Associate in South Asian Studies the South Asian Studies Council

The South Asian Studies Council (SASC) at the MacMillan Center invites applications for a post-doctoral associate position at Yale University for AY 2023-2024. Candidates must have research and teaching experience relevant to modern and contemporary South Asia, in the humanities or social sciences.

All applicants should have in-depth knowledge of at least one SA-related language and fluency in English; and must have completed the Ph.D. by the time of appointment. The post-doctoral associate will teach one course in each of two terms related to their interests, pursue their own research, and participate in the activities of SASC. Applicants should submit a cover letter; one-page description of research plans; a draft of a course syllabus and a title and brief summary of a second course; and a CV. Letters of reference are not required at this initial stage but will be requested later. Compensation is competitive and includes benefits and health coverage.

Graduate students who are working on their Ph.Ds. may apply, but applicants must have completed their Ph.D. dissertations and should present proof of having finally filed their dissertations, even if awaiting formal conferral of the PhD degree. Post-doctoral Associates are expected to be in residence in New Haven to take an active part in the intellectual exchange with other members of the Program.
