Underwriting the peace dividend: Colombian business after the plebiscite

On October 2, the highly-anticipated Colombian peace process came to a screeching halt. A slim majority of voters blocked agreements struck by the government and the Marxist guerrilla, Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), which would have formally ended the 52-year-old conflict. Colombia’s future has been thrust into limbo as opposing political factions scramble to cooperate to salvage parts of the accords and the tenuous ceasefire amid an increasing sense of uncertainty.
