Join the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy for a discussion with British diplomat Sir David Manning. In conversation with Grand Strategy Director and Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs Arne Westad, Manning will offer his insights on the future of the special relationship between the United Kingdom and United States. Topics will include the U.S. election, current conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, and transatlantic relations more broadly.

Manning joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1972 and served in Warsaw, New Delhi, Paris, and Moscow. He was the UK Permanent Representative at NATO (2000-2001) before returning to London as Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister and Head of the Defence and Overseas Secretariat (2001-2003). From 2003 to 2007, he served as Ambassador to the United States. Manning is currently Chair of IDEAS at the London School of Economics.
