Abby Schnabel
As a double major in Global Affairs and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, I have gained a deep understanding of the complex geopolitical landscape of this region, including its history, language, and contemporary politics. I have also gained valuable experience through internships and extracurricular activities. As a Policy and Legal Trainee at the European Commission, I worked on issues related to intra-EU investment protection and the free movement of capital, with the critical goal of aligning Ukraine’s economic policy with the EU. As a member of the Russian Civil Society Project at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, I analyzed the current state of civil society in Russia to develop actionable recommendations for its future development.
On campus, I am an active member of The Yale Review of International Studies, covering European political, economic, and social developments. Recently, I wrote about the status of NATO and Finland's admittance. My skills include proficiency in the Russian language and a passion for community involvement, travel, and academic writing. My dedication and enthusiasm for understanding and engaging with Russian culture and politics make me a valuable asset to the European Studies Undergraduate Fellowship.
