World Dairy Summit
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for the generous support of the European Studies Student Affiliate Award in supporting my travel to the 2024 World Dairy Summit. Hosted under the high patronage of Mr Emmanuel Macron, president of the French Republic, the World Dairy Summit adjourned political, academic, and industry leaders from around Europe and the world in Paris from October 15 – 18. The role of Europe in ensuring global food security and sustainability was central to the remarks made by the EU Commissioner for Agriculture and the French Minister of Agriculture, who both presented during the event.
I am a student in the Environmental Studies major and am currently writing my senior thesis on the role of science communication in accelerating pathways for the adoption of sustainable technologies for dairy production. The technical insights from the Summit have been invaluable in both widening and refining the scope of my research, and have enabled me to develop further academic networks that will be central in confirming the rigor of my research methodology. Dairy farming is a central component of food security, economic stability, and environmental sustainability across Europe and the world. I would therefore like to once again thank the European Studies Council for their steadfast commitment to supporting my research into sustainable agrifood systems for Europe and the world.
