Join us on Monday, April 29 as we discuss how to incorporate environmental justice into teaching; challenges and opportunities in discussing race, ethnicity, and issues of intersectionality in the classroom; and the relationship between rigorous academic study and activism.
We’re seeking to create a forum for those in the Yale community who teach or plan on teaching (faculty, post-docs, and PhD and master’s students)—as well as others interested in learning more about environmental justice and how it connects to their courses and fields of study, no matter the subject matter.
This event will feature panels of special guests, Yale faculty, and FES students and post-docs who will discuss:
Incorporating environmental justice, social equity, race, class, and categories of difference in the classroom in an open and reflective way
Activism, and teaching about social movements, politics, and protests in the environmental context
The role of Yale and other academic institutions in advancing equity and environmental justice
We hope you’ll join us to generate helpful insights, resources, and tools. We will be publishing these in a resource guide after the event, launching the first of many events and conversations we hope to collectively hold to advance environmental justice at FES and beyond.
