Tarana Jafarova coordinated the World Culture and Language After School Studies program at the MacMillan Center, as well as taught Russian and Urdu in it. Previously, she taught all levels of Urdu at the Center for Language Study at Yale. Prior to joining Yale University, she served as a lecturer and a researcher at Baku State University in Baku, Azerbaijan. Tarana has an M.S. degree in political science from Southern Connecticut State University, as well as M.A. and B.A. degrees in linguistics from the National University of Uzbekistan. She is fluent in Russian, Azerbaijani, Hindi, Urdu, and Turkish.
