MacMillan Center Welcomes New Cohort of Foreign Language Teaching Assistants

The MacMillan Center extended a warm welcome to the 2023-24 cohort of Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) at their orientation this week. They will assist Yale’s faculty in teaching their foreign language courses when the new academic term begins on August 30.

The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program provides opportunities for beginner English teachers from overseas to refine their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge of American culture and society while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States.

Since 2005, the MacMillan Center has hosted Fulbright teaching assistants for less-commonly taught languages, including Hindi, Indonesian, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Yorùbá, and Zulu.

This year’s Foreign Language Teaching Assistants are Anuoluwapo Maria Ademosu (Yorùbá), Lucy John (Kiswahili), Larisa Kondakova (Russian), Tuyen Thi Nguyen (Vietnamese), Henrique Paiva Soares (Portuguese), Riddhiben Pankhadiwala (Hindi), Mariana Pessoa (Portuguese), and Phiwokuhle Qwabe (Zulu).
