Gabriela Garcia
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Gabriela Garcia is a sophomore at Yale majoring in Political Science with a certificate in Spanish. She is interested in examining the political and economic relations between Latin America and the United States in order to better understand the current political situation in many countries in the region. Alongside her academic work, Gabriela is a student office assistant for the Yale MacMillan Center’s Council of Latin American & Iberian Studies and serves on the board of Sube: Yale Latinx Business and Leadership Student Association and Despierta Boricua. This past summer, Covid changed Gabriela’s plans from studying abroad in Spain to working on two political campaigns. She loved her virtual experience supporting Congresswoman Cori Bush’s campaign in St. Louis, Missouri, and Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava’s campaign in her hometown of Miami. Inspired by these experiences, Gabriela will be interning this summer at the Securities and Exchange Commission as a part of their Division of Examinations in their Miami regional office.
