Alex Abarca
Alex is a junior in Ezra Stiles college studying political science and literature. His primary field is comparative politics and how electoral systems and party politics shape governments and political processes in Latin America. He is interested in how social movements and protests have shaped electoral processes in the past ten years in the region, ranging from Mexico to Chile. A first-generation low-income student, he likes to analyze how socioeconomic variables influence elections, movements, and political institutions. Outside class, Alex is a research assistant, plays the violin, runs Model United Nations conferences, and loves reading.
